Lead and manage South Africa's elections in a fair, objective and transparent way

Our client, the Electoral Commission (IEC), is an independent and impartial permanent body created by the Constitution to promote and strengthen constitutional democracy in South Africa through the delivery of free and fair elections at all levels of government. The IEC seeks to fill the position of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

Key inputs: a South African citizen, who has not had a recent prominent political profile. A post graduate qualification, or a Bachelors degree with extensive and appropriate experience at senior management level. 10 years experience at senior management level is essential. A sound understanding of democratic electoral processes, the statutory framework in which the IEC operates, budgeting and tender procedures within the Public sector, and the PFMA. Strategic leadership and management, project management, effective communication skils, are all essential requirements.

Reporting to the Commission, key outputs: The CEO is the Accounting Officer of the IEC and the head of its administration. The CEO: oversees the formulation and execution of the strategic plan of the Commission, monitors and reports on its implementation; supports the Commission in the performance of its powers, duties and functions; and ensures the implementation of its decisions. In addition, the CEO is responsible for the electoral functions assigned to him or her by law.
